The Q&A special has begun! This one-page strip is a response to the question, "What is Gideon's favorite weather?"

The song "Forlorn in Silence" by Lord Belial makes a good background soundtrack for this page. I was listening to it a lot while doing this strip. As a matter a fact, I named the comic after it! I'm not a fan of Lord Belial's main body of work, but there's something special about this song. And that ALBUM COVER ART!

I wasn't expecting this strip to be so emotional for me to work on, but that's how it turned out for a number of reasons. We'll be getting to know Gideon a bit better in the upcoming specials. Despite what people in his world might think about him, there's a lot more than radio static going on in his head.

Gideon is one of my oldest characters and developing his life story was my primary staple of self-entertainment during my time in high school, but I wrote a grand total of one short comic about him back then. I wasn't confident enough in my abilities as an artist/writer to create anything with the full scope of what I had in mind, so his stories just kinda churned around in my brain and people only saw little glimpses of it through my drawings. It's kind of hard for me to describe the feeling I'm getting from finally WRITING about Gideon's life now that I'm older and more skilled. It's kinda like...fulfillment of a very old goal and longing for more of it all at the same time. Words are currently failing me, but it's a good feeling.

Q&A is now closed! I would like to sincerely thank everyone who asked questions. You guys are helping me create comics that I never would have made without your help. All you question-askers are in for a treat these coming weeks.

end transmission

Holy caaaats, that snowscape though! Your background/scenery game is so on-point!
I REALLY relate to your note about being able to finally express your characters' lives adequately. I've been driven by that want for years! It feels like giving life to something, I dunno. There's a bit of it that literally feels magic.

Thank you!! I'm happy that you can relate! It's something that's been driving me for eons, as well. And it IS like magic...sort of like conjuring up spirits!
