Small Updates

A few things I'd like to update you guys on!

First things first, I've been so busy with design school that I've not had much time for personal art. KNM will continue to update whenever I'm able. It might be slow, but it's still going forward.

More little things: I've posted the relettered versions of Chapter 1 Page 20 and the entirety of "Money Management." I'll reletter the few speech balloons in Chapter 2 soon.

RE-relettering

I've picked out a different font to use for relettering the comic and I've uploaded the new files. If any of you have trouble reading the lettering, let me know!

Relettering Updoot

Henlo, peeples.

Some people in the forums suggested that I make my own handlettered font using Calligraphr. People seemed to like my handlettering font and it would be missed if I completely did away with it! I couldn't afford to suffer from repetitive motion strain from doing everything by hand, but this helped me get the best of both worlds. I relettered page 17 as an experiment. How does this look?

Relettering Pages

Hey peeples.

The act of lettering my comic by hand hurts my wrists. It makes my hand contract into a claw. I’m also looking thru the pages and I’m seeing that there’s some lines of dialog that are crooked.

I'm in the process of redoing all the word balloons in KNM with computer lettering. As of this post, I've typeset pages 3 to 19. I'll do the rest when I have another block of free time. I want to make the comic look consistent, but I also want you guys to be able to read my comic without squinting. Hopefully, it'll be easier for you now!

Coloring Digitally/Q&A Cancelled

*bangs pots and pans together* SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!

I'm starting my Associate's degree in Graphic Design in January and I just got a new computer a couple days ago. I've been dabbling in the world of digitally coloring my ink drawings. And holy poopies, I am in love.

Where has digital art been all my life?!?!? I HAD SO MUCH FUN COLORING THIS, and it only took a few hours. Compare that to the 15+ hours per panel that I was spending on my comics. KNM is supposed to be like 500 pages and I was looking at the process with absolute dread.

To cut down on time, I have decided to ink the rest of KNM traditionally and color it digitally.

I first started posting KNM publicly on November 24, 2017. Today, it's December 10, 2018. I've been sharing it with people for over a year, and developing the story longer than that. And it's safe to say that I haven't completed nearly enough of the story as I'd like.

There's so much more to see. You haven't even gotten a taste of the complete and total weirdness that's waiting for you further down the line. The art, the characters, the plot--there's a lot missing from the puzzle right now.

My main critique of my own marker art is that it lacks real boldness and clarity. Some of the details tend to get muddy. That problem will largely be solved with computer color. Digital finishing will marry my two strongest skill sets: color and line. The process of inking is zen-like for me and I've been neglecting it lately. It will cut the time spent on my comic by a third, at least.

Unfortunately, I'm going to need to cease production on the Q&A comics that have been sitting on my desk for months. Thank you all for submitting your questions, and thank you all for being so patient with my sluggish updates. (Special shoutout to my awesome friend Oly-RRR, thank you for asking me such good questions!!! Hopefully you didn't think I was dying while making the comic responses.)

I'm going to start working on Chapter 2 ASAP. You deserve more art, more story, more character development, and I'm going to bring that to you in the next year. Despite having to do coursework, I'll still keep making my comic on the side. It might not come out every single week, but it'll come down the pipe with more frequency than it has been lately.

Thank you for sticking around so long. See you on the flip side, duders.
